Your first audit
The setup wizard in four steps: your website, confirm the prefilled basics, optional details, and the first audit running.
Updated
After you sign in at /login (a link sent by email, or Google sign-in; there are no passwords) and pick a plan, the setup wizard at /app/setup collects what the audit needs. It starts from your website address, fills in what it can find, asks you to confirm, and starts the first audit right after. Your progress is saved as you go.
Step 1: Your website
Enter the website address; the domain alone is enough. EchoPilot reads the homepage plus /contact and /about through the same fetcher the audit uses, looks for structured data and common HTML patterns, and runs a Google Places search for a matching listing (up to three candidates). This lookup has a 12-second budget and never fails the step: whatever it could not find is left for you to type. Prefill is limited to five requests per minute per account.
The wizard does not accept private, local or otherwise unreachable hosts; the same safety rules apply as everywhere else user URLs are accepted.
Step 2: Confirm the basics
Each field carries a small badge saying where its value came from (structured data, the HTML, Google Places, or inferred) so you know what to double-check. Required fields:
- Business name
- Kind of business, chosen from eleven plain-language options such as "Restaurant, café or bar", "Home services (plumbing, HVAC, cleaning, repairs)", "Health and wellness (dental, medical, clinic)" or "Something else". Each maps to one of the six business types the rule set uses for vertical overrides.
- City and country (a fixed list of countries).
- Your Google listing. Pick one of the Places candidates shown as cards, say you do not have one, or paste a Google Maps link (maps.app.goo.gl, google.com/maps or g.page).
Optional here: business phone and street address.
Step 3: Optional details
Everything on this step is optional, and each group says which checks it unlocks:
- Social accounts: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, YouTube, as a link or a handle.
- Main service or product you sell, used in the search-visibility checks.
- What a typical customer spends (four bands from under $100 to over $10,000) and whether you run paid ads (five options from none to over $10,000 a month).
- Newsletter: whether you send one and when the last one went out.
- Google Search Console: whether the site is verified there.
Rules that read intake answers report "answer missing from intake" as a not-assessable reason when you leave them blank; you can come back and fill them in later.
Step 4: Running your audit
Saving the business starts a manual audit and takes you to the report page, which shows named stages and progress while the worker runs the checks. When it completes, every member of the account receives an "audit ready" email with the overall score, how many checks were not assessable, and a link to the report.
If your plan does not allow the audit at that moment (for example the on-demand quota for the period is used, or the daily limit was hit), the business is still saved and the message tells you why the audit did not start. See How often audits run per plan.
Drafts and edits
The wizard saves a draft on the server after every step, so a reload or another device resumes where you were. Drafts are kept for 14 days; the saved business is the only durable record. The same wizard edits an existing business at /app/business/edit with the saved values as the prefill.
Removing a business from the dashboard hides it; its audit history is kept. See What we store.
Regional restriction
The paid entry points (saving a business, running an audit now, checkout) are not available from the territories listed in the terms §2. The free score keeps working everywhere.
