Pause, cancel and delete your account
One-click pause and cancel on the billing page, what stops and when, the 30-day data retention after cancellation, and account deletion.
Updated
Everything below is done from /app/billing with one click and no retention offers. The buttons talk to Stripe; the page reflects the change once Stripe confirms, usually within seconds. The terms §5.4 also allow pausing or cancelling by emailing [email protected].
How do I pause?
Press "Pause (30 days)". Stripe stops collecting payment and voids the next invoice. Scheduled audits, on-demand audits and memos stop immediately. Collection and audits resume by themselves 30 days after the paid period ends; you can press "Resume now" at any time before that. A subscription that is already set to cancel cannot be paused; keep it first, then pause.
What happens while paused?
Nothing is charged. No scheduled audit runs, "Run audit now" is refused, and no memo is generated. Your dashboard, audit history and memos stay visible. The dashboard's "next run" line says the schedule resumes when the subscription does.
How do I cancel?
Press "Cancel at the end of the period". The subscription ends when the current paid period ends; audits continue until then and nothing more is charged. Until that date, "Keep my subscription" undoes it and the plan renews as before.
What happens after a cancellation takes effect?
Your businesses, audits, memos and drafts are kept for 30 days so you can subscribe again without losing them. You receive an email saying when that date is. If a plan comes back before then, everything stays. After the 30 days, the worker deletes the business data; your sign-in remains and the free score keeps working. The retention length is a server setting whose default is 30 days, and it matches terms §5.4.
What if a payment fails?
The subscription becomes past due and you receive an email. There is a 7-day grace period during which audits still run; the billing page shows the date and an "Update card" button that opens the Stripe portal. If the card is not fixed by then, audits pause until a payment succeeds, which clears the grace state.
Where do I change my card or see invoices?
"Manage billing" opens the Stripe customer portal for the card, invoices and plan changes. Plan changes made there are prorated by Stripe. Pause and cancel are on the EchoPilot billing page itself, since Stripe has deprecated the portal's own pause.
How do I delete my account?
At the bottom of /app/billing, type DELETE in the box and press "Delete my account". Only the account owner can do this. It cancels any live Stripe subscription immediately, deletes every business, audit, memo, draft and connected integration on the account, then deletes the account itself and signs you out. It cannot be undone. Invoices stay with Stripe as tax records, which the privacy policy keeps for 7 years.
Terms §4 state that account data is deleted or anonymised within 30 days of deletion; the in-app deletion removes the business data and the account at once.
Can I remove one business without cancelling?
Yes. "Remove" on the dashboard hides the business. Its audit history is kept; only account deletion or an explicit deletion request removes it. See What we store.
What about a complimentary plan?
Some accounts run on a complimentary plan granted by the operator. Nothing is billed and nothing will be; scheduled audits stop on the end date unless a subscription takes over. There is nothing to pause or cancel in Stripe for a complimentary plan.
Is there a refund when I cancel?
Cancellation itself does not refund the current period; access simply continues to its end. The 14-day money-back guarantee on the first payment and the refund for a failed audit are described in Plans, pricing and the money-back guarantee.
